Leupold® Mark 8™ CQBSS™ Riflescope Offers Flexibility

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Today’s American warfighter and tactical sniper must cope with the modern battlefield, where engagements can rapidly shift from CQB distance out to one thousand meters. To meet this challenge, Leupold‘s® Tactical Optics Division has introduced the first optic in its new line of Mark 8™ riflescopes with the 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS™.

Designed for combat troops, the Mark 8 CQBSS also makes a superior optic for competitive three-gun shooters and home-defense carbines. The Horus Vision® H27 reticle is offered in CQBSS scopes produced for the military and law enforcement. Leupold’s new Marine-Tactical Milling Reticle (M-TMR™) is offered in the CQBSS version for civilian shooting enthusiasts.

Leupold’s versatile Mark 8 CQBSS riflescope features a state-of-the-art lens system providing operators with the speed of a holographic red dot sight and the capability of an 8-power precision riflescope in one rugged, field-proven unit. The 34mm maintube features a fully checkered ocular bell for making quick magnification adjustments even while wearing gloves.

The front focal plane reticle is accurate at all magnification settings and is combined with a 5-MOA holographic red dot for the ultimate blend of precision and rapid acquisition. Eight illumination settings allow for optimum dot contrast with or without night vision. An off position between each intensity setting makes returning to the preferred setting nearly immediate.

The Horus Vision H27 reticle is mil-based and employs an advanced two-dimensional grid system that helps enhance both accuracy and ease of use. The fine grid marks do not obscure targets and thus allow rapid engagement, while the intuitive design can dramatically reduce training time. Leupold’s M-TMR is designed to allow users to successfully estimate range and engage targets with more flexibility than generally possible with other reticle styles. The M-TMR’s “staircased” configuration preserves the instinctive-fire capabilities on low magnification while allowing precise range estimation at any power setting.

In addition, the Mark 8 CQBSS has Auto-Locking Pinch and Turn turrets with 0.10 mil clicks that are extremely easy to adjust, yet eliminate accidental adjustment in the field. The AA53 (77 grain 5.56 NATO) BDC dial makes first-round hits a simple reality, while the quick-change BDC ring effortlessly adapts to alternate loads.

The Mark 8 CQBSS features Leupold’s Index Matched Lens System® with DiamondCoat 2™, which provides increased light transmission and scratch resistance that exceeds mil-specs.

“Operators in the field no longer have to make mission-specific compromises on their optics. With its advanced lens technology, the Mark 8 CQBSS gives every warfighter the optimum flexibility to command their battle space,” said Kevin Trepa, Leupold’s vice president of tactical sales and marketing. “Every soldier will have the tools to make precision long-range shots while still having the quick-acquisition sights crucial in today’s rapidly evolving combat zone.”

Mark 8 riflescopes have a matte black finish and are filled with an argon/krypton gas blend, making them second-generation waterproof, fog proof and shock proof. Measuring 11.75 inches long and weighing just 23.2 ounces, the Mark 8 CQBSS packs a lot of power in a compact unit. Flip-open lens covers and a 2.5″ sun shade are standard issue.
