Carl Zeiss Introduces the New, 30mm CONQUEST Duralyt Riflescope Line

Maximum Durability and Accuracy at an Attractive Price

CHESTER, Va., January 2, 2012 – Carl Zeiss Sports Optics introduces the new 30mm CONQUEST Duralyt Riflescope line available in 1.2-5×36, 2-8×42 and 3-12×50 models.   Known for their reliability and precision, all three premium German-made models are available with illuminated reticle # 60 or non-illuminated reticle # 6, giving today’s active hunter excellent options for most hunting situations.  The distinctive design, durability and outstanding value of these 30mm scopes set them apart in the premium segment.

“We’re excited to bring this new line of rugged, versatile 30mm CONQUEST riflescopes to the U.S. market,” said Michael A. Jensen, President of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics.  “We want to provide our customers with more choices, and the CONQUEST Duralyt represents the best value for a European engineered riflescope!   These riflescopes feature the mechanical precision that you expect from ZEISS, large fields of view, incredible daylight illumination and image quality that is absolutely outstanding for this class.   Simply put, the 30mm CONQUEST Duralyt offers exceptional performance at a very appealing price point.”

The illuminated reticle #60 features an extremely fine red dot in the center of the crosshairs.  When turned off, the dot disappears and it looks identical to reticle #6 (both are non-magnifying reticles in the second image plane). The daylight-visible illuminated reticle #60 was developed using fiber optic nanotechnology that produces the finest illuminated dot in its class – covering just 0.3 inches at 100 yards on 12x magnification.  Illumination is activated, and brightness intensity controlled, by pressing one of the two touch keys on the eyepiece.  After four hours of unaltered operation, the illuminated dot switches off automatically.  For manual deactivation, both buttons must be pressed simultaneously.

The progressive design of the CONQUEST Duralyt also features a unique dark grey, anodized surface with deep black rubber operating elements to ensure that the scopes blend well into natural surroundings. The CONQUEST Duralyt scopes are also nitrogen filled to remain water and fog proof for years of hard use and enjoyment.

The three CONQUEST Duralyt models provide hunters and shooters with options for just about any situation afield.  The CONQUEST Duralyt 1.2-5×36’s low magnification and wide field of view allows for quick and safe target acquisition at close range making it an excellent choice for dangerous game and tactical applications.

The sleek and compact CONQUEST Duralyt 2-8×42 provides bright images in twilight and allows for accurate shooting at moderate distances exceeding 200 yards.  This is the model of choice for those seeking a practical magnification range for various types of hunting.

The CONQUEST Duralyt 3-12×50 is the ideal choice for shooting medium to longer distances during the day or in twilight conditions.  The 50mm objective allows for excellent low light performance and yet this scope is still lightweight enough for mountain hunters.

CHESTER, Va., September 28, 2011 – Carl Zeiss Sports Optics is pleased to announce its platinum sponsorship of THE REVOLUTION with Jim and Trav on the Outdoor Trails Network (OTN).   This award-winning radio show and podcast airs on more than 366 radio and cable stations in the US and on American Forces Radio Network’s 170 stations around the world.  The show reaches almost five million listeners each week and is geared toward outdoor enthusiasts, especially those who have a passion for hunting and fishing.  Tom Selleck, Jeff Foxworthy, Ted Nugent, Charlie Daniels and Hank Williams, Jr. are among the 900-plus celebrities who have appeared on the show over the past 10 years as well as governors such as Sonny Perdue of Georgia, Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and Mike Huckabee of Arkansas.   Outdoor pros like Michael Waddell and Larry Weishuhn are also frequent guests, offering helpful tips and advice.

“To say I’m excited to have Zeiss join our family of sponsors is an understatement!  Zeiss is the sort of optics company others aspire to be,” said Jim Ferguson of the Outdoor Trails Network.  “I first started using Zeiss when my father gave me his old pair of binoculars and I have since handed them down to my son, and I assume he will do the same with his. I truly cannot think of a better company to be associated with.”

On this week’s show, Jim and Trav discuss long-range shooting with Zeiss’ Bob Kaleta and the advantages of Zeiss’ fast and accurate RAPID-Z Ballistic Reticle in addition to the Kenton Ballistic Knob now also offered by Zeiss.   They also delve into the ethics of long-range shooting and the responsibility hunters shoulder in the field when it comes to the critical decision of ‘if and when’ to shoot.   Bob also gives a recap of the Zeiss promotions running through the end of the year and what makes Zeiss quality so impressive.  It’s great information for hunters who need to round out their selection of equipment this fall and for those getting a jump on their Christmas shopping.

“Jim and Trav have a great show that is packed with useful information for outdoor enthusiasts,” said Bob Kaleta, Hunting Product Specialist for Zeiss.  “It’s always fun to be a guest on their show, and we look forward to working closely with them to keep their growing audience of listeners informed and entertained.”

Carl Zeiss Introduces the Dialyt 18-45×65 Compact Field Spotter

CHESTER, Va., January 18, 2011 – Originally designed for European Alpine hunters, the new ZEISS Dialyt 18-45×65 Field Spotter is lightweight, compact and built for rough use in the field making it an attractive option for western hunters here in the U.S. and those hunting in mountainous areas anywhere. This straight, rubber armored scope with built-in variable eyepiece features premium optics and is fully waterproof and dustproof, unlike draw-tube scopes, and instantly ready for use. Simply position, focus and view within a split second.

The Dialyt 18-45×65′s variable eyepiece provides a wide field of view at low magnification and the richness of every detail at long distances using higher magnification. This compact spotter also features multilayer coatings, a large lens diameter and high transmission that allows for easy observation at lower magnifications in low light conditions such as early morning or at dusk.

The large magnification range makes it the perfect scope for mountain hunting or for observation in vast, open areas. And it is simple to use: change magnification by turning the eyepiece and focus by turning the objective. The Dialyt 18-45×65 fits easily into a backpack and, if necessary, can be rested on a pack or rock, or leaned against a tree for further stabilization at higher magnification. This spotter also has threads for a tripod mount if hunters prefer a stable platform for lengthier periods of observation.

The Dialyt’s light metal body and rubber armored exterior make it noise absorbent, rugged, reliable and easy to handle, even in extremely low temperatures. It comes with a wide, comfortable carrying strap that attaches to the caps of the objective lens and eyepiece for easy transport and optimal protection.

Zeiss Shipping DiaScope15-56x/20-75x Eyepiece in Early 2011

CHESTER, VA1 – The long awaited 15-56x / 20-75x eyepiece for the award-winning ZEISS Victory DiaScope T* FL Spotting Scopes has finally arrived. First announced at the 2010 SHOT Show, this highly versatile eyepiece offers the widest range of power on the market today and, combined with the newly designed DiaScope, provides a visual experience unlike any other.

The eyepiece functions as a 15-56x on the 65mm DiaScope models and 20-75x on the 85mm DiaScopes. Both models come in straight or angled bodies and feature a revolutionary Dual Speed Focus System (DSF) that combines both the fast and fine focus in a single control. You simply have to try it yourself to believe the speed and flexibility this gives you in the field. This one focus wheel allows you to easily control both the ultra-precise and rapid focusing without changing your grip. The focus is ultra-precise when the focusing wheel is turned back and forth slowly around the point of best focus. The rapid focusing, which is five times faster, is automatically activated when the focus wheel is turned more than 270°. To see a video of how this focus system works, see zeiss.com/sports.

Additional enhancements to the DiaScope include a new, sleek rubber-armored exterior for improved feel and protection of the highly durable magnesium/aluminum housing, and the DiaScope’s optical performance is exceptional. Its FL lens system was engineered to produce superior image quality – extremely detailed, sharp, brilliant, true-color images, even in challenging lighting and weather situations – and also features an advanced stray light reduction system which virtually eliminates contrast-reducing stray light.

Carl Zeiss‘ redesign of the DiaScope has been a homerun with those who love the finest in nature observation as is evidenced by the many awards won: 2010 Outdoor Life Editor’s Choice Award, 2010 Petersen’s Hunting Editor’s Choice Award, 2010 Field & Stream Best of the Best Award and 2010 international Red Dot Design Award.

Eyepieces for the new DiaScopes are also available in the Vario 15-45x / 20-60x and Vario 30x / 40x models. All DiaScopes are waterproof and nitrogen filled. They also come with Carl Zeiss’ award-winning LotuTec® water repellant coating and feature a new bayonet locking system that securely locks the eyepieces onto the body of the scope yet still allows for quick and easy changing. Accessories include an ultra-functional carrying case featuring an AirCell carrying strap with quick-release fasteners for ready use at a moments notice.

Carl Zeiss also offers a new aluminum tripod set for the DiaScopes with a state-of-the-art Photo/Video Head for quick and easy observation and photography. The tripod’s rugged leg set ensures stability in the field and is easy to adjust for all of your observation needs.

Carl Zeiss Sports Optics Announces Winner of the ZEISS Experience Contest

zeiss optics

Carl Zeiss

CHESTER, VIRGINIA – Carl Zeiss Sports Optics has selected George McCoy of New Mexico as the winner of the ZEISS Experience Contest, earning McCoy a trip to hunt trophy black bear with Zeiss in Manitoba, Canada this spring.

After reviewing numerous submissions by loyal ZEISS customers describing how or why ZEISS optics have made a difference in their hunting success afield, McCoy was chosen for his succinct and compelling essay detailing many examples of the positive difference ZEISS has made in his 34 years of hunting.

The following excerpts are from McCoy’s submission:

“It is hard to pick one hunt where my Zeiss optics have made it successful. An Elk herd at first light in Montana where I was the only one able to pick out the bull, a Steenbok and Lions at last light in Zimbabwe, a Lion at first light in Tanzania or Cape Buffalo at last light all come to mind. After falling into the rocks on a sheep hunt in the Wrangell’s of Alaska, hunting Caribou above the Arctic Circle, hunting in the wind and rain on the Alaska Peninsula and in the salt water environment of Prince William Sound, I have always been able to depend on my Zeiss optics. I bought my first Zeiss Riflescope and 8×30 binoculars 35 years ago. I now have 6 Zeiss scopes and 3 pair of binoculars….. never had a problem with any piece of Zeiss equipment.”

“The hunt that made it clear to me just how Zeiss optics are superior to one of your main competitors was a Leopard hunt in Zimbabwe…..My guide and I both had 8×30 binoculars but mine were Zeiss…..After peering through his binoculars for some time the guide whispered that he just couldn’t make out the animal that was feeding on the bait. I handed him my Zeiss binoculars, he put them to his eyes and immediately whispered back that it was just a Honey Badger. That evening we had a leopard come into the bait just at dark. We were barely able to see the cat in the dusk but when I looked through the 1.5×6 Diavari Riflescope it was as if someone had turned the lights on.”

“Reliability, durability and performance translates into optics I can pass on to my son and grandson. I have already bought him a pair of Zeiss Binoculars and supplied both my son and grandson with Zeiss Riflescopes. When purchasing any kind of optical equipment, I never consider any item that does not have the Zeiss name on it.”

McCoy will accompany Bob Kaleta, Carl Zeiss Hunting Product Specialist, in pursuit of trophy black bear in Manitoba this May. They will be staying at the incredible Agassiz-Waterhen River Lodge during this week-long hunt that will feature the latest optics from Carl Zeiss. In addition to the hunt, McCoy will also receive a Conquest 3-9×40 riflescope and Conquest 8×40 binocular as a gift for his effort on the essay and his many years of loyalty to Carl Zeiss.

“George McCoy is a great example of Carl Zeiss’ many loyal customers,” said Erik Schumacher, president of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics. “We appreciate the confidence that Mr. McCoy and others like him have in the ZEISS brand. They provide opportunities for Carl Zeiss to be part of, and make a positive difference during, so many incredible hunting adventures, and this drives us as a company. We want to give them the very best and are constantly developing new, innovative optics for an even greater experience in the field.”
