SureFire Shipping Ultra Scout Light Models

The SureFire Ultra Scout Light™ models are now available. The M600U and M620U have been upgraded to 500 lumens while still maintaining their small, compact size.

The M600U & M620U Scout Light™ are lightweight, compact WeaponLight’s featuring an ultra-high-output LED that delivers 500 lumens of blinding white light. A proprietary TIR lens shapes the recoil-proof LED’s light into a beam with plenty of reach but enough surround light to accommodate peripheral vision, making the Scout Light Series ideal for longer- and closer-range applications. The ergonomic M600U attaches quickly and securely to any MIL-STD-1913 rail via its integral thumbscrew clamp, while the M620U utilizes a self-adjusting Swing-Lever™ clamp that will fit out of spec rails. The light is activated by either clicking its pushbutton tailcap switch or, for fingertip control, by pressing the pressure-activated tape switch (both included). Constructed of lightweight aerospace aluminum, hard anodized with a Mil-Spec finish, and O-ring sealed to keep out the elements, the tough Scout Light models thrive in combat-like conditions and provides a tactical advantage in low-light situations-without any sacrifice in weapon maneuverability.

SureFire Releases Tactical Wristlight

Fountain Valley, CA – SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, introduces an entirely new category of tactical illumination tool: the 2211™ variable-output LED WristLight. It was designed to be paired with a handgun and provide hands-free tactical illumination for a broad range of scenarios. With the 2211 on your support side wrist , LED aimed in the direction of the hand , the diffuse beam will provide sufficient illumination for threat identification and accurate shooting at close-to medium range in low light and darkness. The 2211 automatically aligns with a handgun when used with your normal two-handed grip and stance, and will cast blinding light into the eyes of a threat, impairing his dark-adapted vision in low light.

“In a high-stress situation-potentially involving a deadly force decision-the ability to have hands-free, overwhelming white light is essential. The 2211 is a giant advancement for law enforcement in dealing with threats in everyday low-light encounters,” said Las Vegas Metro Police Officer Kevin Skehan.

The 2211 is activated by ambidextrous pushbutton switches, one on either side of the light body. Select from high (180 lumen), medium (60 lumen), and low (15 lumen) outputs. The integral lithium-ion rechargeable battery provides 1.25 hours of tactical runtime at the high level and is recharged using a standard micro-USB cable. Precision machined from aerospace aluminum and Mil-Spec hard anodized for durability, the 2211 is approximately the size of a sports watch. A fuel gauge located on the top of the light keeps the user aware of the battery charge level. The custom refractive optic creates a smooth, diffuse beam, which helps in countering tunnel vision during high-stress encounters. MSRP is $495.00, and it is available through authorized SureFire dealers or by calling SureFire at  800-828-8809 or going online at http://www.surefire.com/2211

SureFire Announces 60 and 100 Round Mags for AR-style Firearms

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, is proud to announce the release of its hi-capacity 60- and 100-round (STANAG 4179) aluminum magazines for .223/5.56mm NATO M4/M16/AR15-style firearms. These new high-cap magazines (HCMs)-dubbed the MAG5-60 and MAG5-100-are designed to provide military units with an overwhelming tactical advantage in the delivery of firepower.

“In the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, ambushes are commonplace, and the outcome is often determined in the first 30 seconds,” said Don Alexander, SureFire’s Director of Military Sales and retired Special Forces operator with six combat tours. “Firepower and the ability to stay in the fight are key. These magazines will reduce soldier vulnerability by keeping them in the fight for longer periods of time, with less downtime spent on reloads.”

In battle, it typically takes the average soldier four seconds to reload his weapon and reacquire a target, valuable time that could be spent engaging threat targets. At best, 30-round magazines allow a soldier to fire no more than 150 rounds in 30 seconds. SureFire’s 60-round high-cap magazine increases that figure to 240 rounds; its 100-rounder to 293 rounds. And both will support military units planning to incorporate full-auto firepower to more of their operators.

SureFire HCMs easily and securely fit into the host weapon, with the bolt closed, when loaded with the maximum round count. The design of the magazine takes into account the allowable tolerances of cartridges manufactured to NATO and SAAMI specifications. A 4×2 quad-stack configuration features a revolutionary internal spring and follower system designed to be more reliable than current standard MILSPEC USGI 30-round magazines. This proprietary internal design also allows SureFire HCMs to be stored indefinitely while fully loaded, in preparation for deployment, which means individual units can be issued ammo supply crates with pre-loaded magazines instead of empty mags and ammo cans, another potential lifesaving benefit in critical-response situations.

The MAG5-60 will fit into most nylon pouches with Velcro® cover flaps intended to hold two standard 30-round magazines, but double magazine pouches with stitched partitions may require some alteration. Both the 60- and 100-round HCMs can be disassembled for periodic cleaning or as required. The magazine floor plate can be easily removed from the body using a punch, the tip of a cartridge, or a variety of common tools.

SureFire HCMs are the result of an entirely new division at SureFire, in partnership with L. James Sullivan and Bob Waterfield of Arm West, LLC. Mr. Sullivan is best known for co-developing the Armalite AR-15/M16 (M16A1) rifle and the original 20-round 5.56mm box magazine. They will be assembled and distributed by SureFire’s new Reno, Nevada, facility, the company’s first venture outside of Southern California, and will initially be available only from authorized SureFire dealers in states without any HCM regulations. Processes are also being developed for dealers in locations that do have HCM regulations, including California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. MSRP is $129 for the 60-round magazine and $179 for the 100-rounder, with orders expected to begin shipping in March of 2011.

SureFire Wins Hellfighter WeaponLight Contract

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, has been awarded a major military contract to produce the VBL-H (visible bright light heavy) fire control device for the crew-served weapon systems used by U.S. Special Operations Forces. The $16.6 million contract, for an indefinite quantity of SureFire HellFighter heavy-gun WeaponLights, was awarded by officials of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, in Crane, Indiana.

The primary objective of the VBL-H program, a subsystem of the Miniature Day/Night Sight – Crew Served Weapons project of the U.S. Special Operations Command Weapon Accessories program, is to provide increased optical augmentation to crew-served operators. This increased optical augmentation is expected to help crews with target detection, recognition, and identification in low-light/observation conditions on the battlefield.

SureFire’s HellFighter WeaponLight-designed specifically for the M2HB .50 caliber machine gun, M134 Mini-Gun, and M240-generates 3,000 lumens of focused, HID (high intensity discharge) light capable of reaching hundreds of yards into the darkness. HellFighter has been used in combat operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan and has proven to be an effective target illuminator and searchlight, as well as a non-lethal escalation-of-force preventer. In addition to mounting to the .50 caliber M2HB, M134 Mini-Gun, and M240-variant machine guns, HellFighter can also be hand carried as a searchlight or mounted to a vehicle or watercraft.

Work on this contract will be performed by SureFire at their Southern California facilities and is expected to be completed by September of 2015. For more information on the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, visit www.navsea.navy.mil/nswc/crane/default.aspx. SureFire Awarded Contract for USSOCOM VBL-III

Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, has been awarded a contract for a Visible Bright Light III (VBL-III) in support of the U.S. Special Operations Command weapons accessories program. The $14.9 million contract, for an indefinite quantity of SureFire weapon-mounted lights, was awarded by officials of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, in Crane, Indiana.

The objective of the VBL-III is to provide improved illumination capability for the small arms used by special operations forces. SureFire will be fulfilling the contract with its new “V-Series” LED WeaponLights, specifically, the M620V Scout Light® and M720V RAID™ light, both of which feature high-output white-light and infrared illumination from the same sealed unit. Unlike incandescent weapon-mounted lights, which require an infrared filter to produce enough infrared illumination for use with night vision devices, V-Series LED lights require no IR filter. To convert from white to IR light (or vice versa), the user need only twist the light’s self-locking selector ring, even on the fly.

Work on this contract will be performed by SureFire at their Southern California facilities and is expected to be completed by September of 2015. For more information on the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, visit www.navsea.navy.mil/nswc/crane/default.aspx.
