Petersen’s Hunting Magazine Names ZEISS DiaScope Editor’s Choice

Zeiss CHESTER, VIRGINIA – The new Victory DiaScope 85mm spotting scope from Carl Zeiss has been named Editor’s Choice by the staff of Petersen’s Hunting. The 2010 Spotting Scope Review, featured in the magazine’s September issue, compared spotting scopes from numerous manufacturers and the new ZEISS DiaScope, with its revolutionary Dual Speed Focus (DSF) system, beat out the competition as the top pick. Here’s what they had to say:

“The DiaScope features fluoride glass and a protective LotuTec lens coating to shed water, dirt and other optical result-robbing debris. We put this scope through its paces, and all the way to the 60x the images were bright and Beefeater-clear. The innovative Dual Speed Focus (DSF) system is something you almost have to try to believe. It automatically transfers from macro-adjustment to fine-tuning like no other scope. This is our pick of the litter, price be damned. $2,999; zeiss.com/sports.”

The DiaScope is available in 65mm or 85mm models, straight or angled, and the newly designed eyepieces include the Vario D 15-56x / 20-75x, the most powerful and versatile eyepiece on the market today. All DiaScope eyepieces feature Carl Zeiss’ LotuTec® water repellant coating and the new bayonet locking system securely locks the eyepieces onto the body of the scope yet still allows for quick and easy changing.

Other enhancements include the new, sleek rubber-armored exterior for improved feel and protection of the highly durable magnesium/aluminum housing and the exceptional optical performance of FL lens system produces extremely detailed, sharp and brilliant images, even in the most demanding lighting and weather conditions.

“We are thrilled and honored that the Petersen’s Hunting staff has named the new DiaScope Editor’s Choice,” said Erik Schumacher, president of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics. “Their recognition of our efforts to redesign the DiaScope with numerous enhanced features, including a truly revolutionary new focusing system, means a lot to all of us at Carl Zeiss. We are driven by desire to produce the finest optical experience possible in the field and will continue to innovate to ensure that ZEISS optics continue to deliver this.”

The new DiaScope from Carl Zeiss was also named a 2010 Editor’s Choice winner by Outdoor Life magazine.
