“Consisting of more than 20 designers, engineers, production personnel and quality control specialists, our Synergy Project Team devoted itself to producing the best possible line of binoculars for various field applications and budgets,” said Pat Mundy, communications manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “Our BX line is the result of all their hard work, which really paid off.”

All BX binoculars are waterproof, built to withstand harsh field conditions, and designed for comfortable use and easy handling. Key features for each model:

The BX-3 Mojave is a roof prism binocular with a lightweight open bridge design that fits well in most any hand. Delivering a wider field of view than many competitive models, the BX-3 Mojave is available in 8x42mm, 10x42mm, 10x50mm and 12x50mm, with either a black or Mossy Oak® Treestand® finish.

BX-2 Cascades binoculars also provide exceptional low-light performance with fully multi-coated lenses and phase coated BAK4 prisms. Trim and compact, the BX-2 Acadia has an ergonomic design that comfortably fits hands of most sizes. Color finish options include black and Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity camo.

The BX-1 Yosemite can be adjusted for the width between the eyes of adults as well as children, making it a good binocular choice for the entire family. A Porro prism model, the BX-1 Yosemite is also designed to fit most hands, large and small. Fully multi-coated lenses provide a quality image, and forgiving eye relief makes it easier to acquire the sight picture, even for novice users with eyeglasses. BX-1 Yosemite binoculars are available in 6x30mm or 8x30mm with either a black or natural tan finish. There is also an 8x30mm in clamshell packaging with a Mossy Oak Treestand camo finish.

LEUPOLD Introduces RX-1000i Rangefinders with DNA(tm)

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Powered by an exclusive new rangefinder engine technology, Leupold‘s® RX®-1000i with DNA™ fits in a shirt pocket, yet offers hunters and shooters even more ranging precision and speed, along with an exceptionally bright target image.

DNA (Digitally eNhanced Accuracy), a next-generation Leupold technology, not only increases ranging speed, but makes the RX-1000i accurate to 1/10 of a yard against all background colors and textures. DNA also provides the RX-1000i with greater ranging capability against soft targets such as deer and trees.

A digital laser rangefinder, the compact RX-1000i with DNA measures only 3.8 inches long and weighs just 7.8 ounces. Its multicoated lens system produces a bright, pristine image, helping to transmit 80 percent of available light to the eye – three times greater than the light transmission of traditional Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) rangefinder models. Actual 6x magnification and a vivid red Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display also make it easier to spot and range game, even through dark timber and in low-light conditions.

The advanced RX-1000i TBR® with DNA models also offer Leupold’s exclusive True Ballistic Range® technology to help place shots with exceptional accuracy.

All RX-1000i units are weatherproof and rugged, with a tough aluminum casing and rubber armor. The RX-1000i with DNA has a black finish, while the TBR model is available in either gray/black or Mossy Oak® Break-Up® Infinity™ camouflage.

“Following on the heels of our successful RX-1000 introduction in 2009, the new RX-1000i with DNA models once again raise the bar on compact rangefinder function and performance, giving hunters and shooters a handy tool to easily spot targets and range them faster and more precisely than ever,” commented Pat Mundy, communications manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “These are truly innovative rangefinders that offer the best of all worlds: shirt pocket size for easy and convenient carrying, exceptionally rugged to withstand the hardest hunt, and superior ranging performance to help set up for an accurate shot.”

Maximum range of the RX-1000i with DNA is 1,000 yards (914.4 meters) on reflective targets. Minimum range is 6 yards (5.5 meters). In bow mode, maximum range is 125 yards (114.3 meters). Scan mode provides continuous range updates to help stay on target when tracking movement or scanning an area. Measurements are provided in yards or meters.

Other key features include:

* OLED display has variable brightness settings, making it easier to see in dim light than LCD displays typical of most other rangefinders
* fast-focus eyepiece with precision clicks
* redesigned Quick Set Menu provides on-screen prompts for easy use in the field
* selectable reticles – hunters can choose from three different reticles to best suit the terrain and game, from elk to small varmints
* fold-down rubber eyecups accommodate users with or without glasses
* convenient battery power indicator

The RX-1000i TBR with DNA units can automatically calculate the shot angle and provide the True Ballistic Range rather than the straight-line distance to the target. Optimized for most popular bow and rifle trajectories, the rifle settings also work in conjunction with Leupold’s Ballistic Aiming System® riflescope reticles for exceptionally accurate shot placement. Available only in the RX-1000i TBR, milliradian outputs can precisely match mil based reticles such as the Mil Dot, TMR and Horus Vision® offerings.

Each rangefinder comes with a Cordura® holster, lanyard, CR2 lithium camera battery and complete instructions. For more information, go to www.leupold.com or call 1-800-LEUPOLD.

Leupold® Continues Optics Innovation With New FireDot™ Reticle System

BEAVERTON, Ore. - Leupold‘s® long history of optics innovation for hunting continues with the new illuminated FireDot™ Reticle System, now available exclusively in VX-R™ riflescopes.

The system includes five different reticle choices: FireDot Duplex, Ballistic FireDot, FireDot Circle, FireDot 4 and the FireDot Pig Plex. A fiber optic light pipe with a meticulously cut and polished tip provides an illuminated dot, which can be easily seen in bright light, yet is not overpowering in low- light conditions. Once activated, the dot illuminates with bright, sharp definition, while the rest of the reticle remains non-illuminated. This combination leads the eye naturally to the center aiming point and makes target acquisition quick, precise and simple.

“The tried-and-true Duplex® reticle was invented by Leupold in the early 1960s; our FireDot Reticle System continues that tradition of innovation,” said Pat Mundy, communications manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “An all-new fiber optic LED illumination method is employed for the FireDot, which offers reticle options for a wide range of hunting applications.”

Designed for fast target acquisition, each FireDot reticle features an extra-bright centerpoint dot. The FireDot Duplex has the versatility for a broad range of game. Ideal for extended-range shooting, the Ballistic FireDot is well suited for varmint, antelope and big game at longer distances.

The FireDot Circle is designed specifically for fast-moving targets, including dangerous game, pigs and even turkeys. With its bold post, the FireDot 4 helps draw the eye to the center of the reticle and keeps the upper field of view free of obstructions. The FireDot Pig Plex is calibrated to frame up a mature hog and provide just the right amount of lead on running boars.

VX-R riflescopes feature a single push button illumination system with Leupold’s own Motion Sensor Technology (MST™). A touch of the button illuminates the dot within the reticle. By repeatedly pressing the button, the user can select between eight different intensity settings including a high-low indicator, which flashes when either the maximum or minimum intensity is reached. After five minutes of inactivity, the illumination system automatically switches to stand-by mode, but reactivates at the same intensity setting whenever the rifle is moved. This helps extend battery life and, by reducing movement, allows the hunter to maintain greater stealth in the field.

VX-R models include 1.25-4x20mm, 2-7x33mm, 3-9x40mm, 3-9x50mm, 4-12x40mm and 4-12x50mm. Each is available with one or more of the FireDot reticle options. The illumination system is powered by a CR-2032 coin cell battery, readily available around the country Sporting Leupold’s familiar Golden Ring®, VX-R riflescopes are backed by the company’s Full Lifetime Guarantee. Riflescopes with illuminated reticles are legal for use in all states that allow centerfire rifles for big game hunting. Leupold Introduces Optical Ideas for More Successful Hunting

BEAVERTON, Ore. – As hunting seasons approach around the country, Leupold® offers the following ideas for using optics technology to achieve more success afield.

Customize. Riflescopes can be customized more than ever to suit individual preferences and specific hunting conditions. For example, Leupold offers a Custom Dial System® (CDS®) feature for its VX®-3 riflescopes. CDS helps hunters and shooters get on target at any range, with any load, by matching their scopes to the ballistics of their ammunition. For additional information, go to www.leupold.com/VX-3CDS.

Accurize. Advancements in optics technology help hunters shoot with great accuracy. Recent examples include the True Ballistic Range® (TBR®) feature in selected models of Leupold’s RX® and Vendetta™ rangefinders. TBR automatically calculates the shot angle and provides the incline-adjusted distance to the target, rather than the straight-line distance. Another example: range-estimating riflescope reticles for specific types of hunting, such as Leupold’s Boone and Crockett® Big Game Reticle and Varmint Hunter’s Reticle.

Accessorize. Various accessories are now available to enhance riflescope performance. Case in point: Leupold’s Alumina® thread-on accessories, which help hunters use the available light to their advantage. With the Alumina system, a riflescope can be adapted to various light conditions, enhancing the visibility of game animals.

Illuminate. It’s no secret that some of the best hunting often occurs in the low light of early morning or late evening. To help hunters take full advantage of “prime time,” modern riflescopes come with upgraded features such as premium lens coatings and illuminated reticles. Recent innovations include Leupold’s Xtended Twilight Lens System™ and Third Generation Illumination.

For more information on the Leupold products mentioned above, go to www.leupold.com, or call 1-800-LEUPOLD or 503-526-1400. Good hunting!

Leupold® Deploys Battlefield Upgrades for Mark 4® Riflescopes

Leupold® Deploys Battlefield Upgrades for Mark 4® RiflescopesBEAVERTON, Ore. – Leupold‘s Tactical Optics Division has upgraded its Mark 4® Extended Range/Tactical (ER/T®), Long Range/Tactical (LR/T®) and Mid Range/Tactical (MR/T®) riflescopes to give American warfighters and snipers an even greater edge on the modern battlefield. The upgrades also offer numerous optical advantages for hunters, competition shooters and other civilian shooting enthusiasts.

Primary upgrades include Leupold’s Xtended Twilight Lens System™, as well as options such as M5 0.1 mil windage and elevation adjustment dials, Horus reticles, front focal plane reticles and third-generation illuminated reticles. Selected options can be retrofitted for existing Mark 4 riflescopes, depending on model.

“These upgrades further enhance our field-proven line of Mark 4 riflescopes,” said Kevin Trepa, Leupold’s vice president of tactical sales and marketing. “Our mission to serve the unique needs of American warfighters and demanding civilian shooters continues as we develop precision optics to help them take maximum advantage of the reach and power of their rifles.”

New ER/T, LR/T and MR/T models feature the Xtended Twilight Lens System – Leupold’s best lens coating technology for low-light conditions. The system utilizes Leupold’s index matched glass with lens coatings designed to optimize the transmission of low-light wavelengths. As a result, shooters receive a crisper, brighter sight picture in dim light than ever before.

Following are key features of the available options:

* M5 windage and elevation adjustment dials have audible, tactile 1/10 (0.1) milliradian clicks to match range-estimating, mil-based reticle options. This allows fast and easy correction in the field, resulting in greater shooting precision.

* Horus reticles are mil-based and employ an advanced two-dimensional grid system that helps enhance both accuracy and ease of use. The fine grid marks do not obscure targets and thus allow rapid engagement, while the intuitive design can dramatically reduce training time. Horus reticle options include the H26, H27, H36, H37 and H58.

* Front focal plane reticles allow the operator to use the scope on any magnification while retaining the exact spacing of range-estimating reticle features (the reticle magnifies with the image). Consequently, the operator can accurately estimate range and calculate holdovers at all power settings.

* Leupold’s third-generation illuminated riflescope reticles advance the technology with an array of features designed to provide a user-friendly, intuitive system for fast target acquisition in tactical low-light situations. Third-generation illumination offers a 15 percent brighter reticle, eight different intensity settings (two compatible with night-vision equipment) and redesigned control dials to enhance ease of use.

While no single Mark 4 riflescope can be fitted with all the upgrade options, numerous variations exist and most models are capable of accepting multiple upgrades. To determine specific options available for particular scopes, contact Leupold Tactical Optics at 1-800-LEUPOLD.

Ready for deployment, Mark 4 ER/T, LR/T and MR/T riflescopes are waterproof, fog proof and shock proof. A 30mm maintube provides exceptional strength and allows for a wide range of windage and elevation adjustment. Exhaustive testing in the factory and field ensures durability. Flip-open lens covers are standard issue. Each scope comes in a matte black finish and is covered by the company’s Tactical Optics Warranty.

Leupold Rifle Scopes

Leupold Superfriends

The Leupold Superfriends protected the Northern City from all the types of creatures that could come out of the forest to destroy the peaceful lives of its citizens. Once again, the calm evening at the Leupold Hall of Optics was shattered when the report came in from the frantic mayor.” A monster deer is rampaging the city. Please help us with your ultra high performing optics, Leupold Superfriends!” he wrung his hands.

The Leupold Superfriends gathered around the display, watching the amazing forty story creature smash its antlers into the sides of buildings.

VX cracked his knuckles as he watched the destruction. “This deer thought it could sneak in under the cover of twilight, but it will be no match for my Xtended Twilight Lens System and  Light Optimization Profile. He won’t be able to hide from  my huge field of view.”

“That deer monster won’t stand a chance against us,” Rifleman agreed as he polished his Wide Duplex reticle. “It’s smashing things, but we’re accurate, durable, rugged and shockproof. No knocking us about cross country is going to take off our alignment. Right?” FX agreed while tapping on his virtually indestructible Diamond Coat 2 lens coating.

“To the Leupold Limo,” cried Rimfire. “It won’t stand a chance against our precision shots on small targets.”

The Superfriends filled the limo, their uniforms an elegant mix of matte black, satin black, gloss black and silver. Ultralight, being lighter than everyone else, stuck his head out the roof while those who had Ballistics Aiming Systems were firing up for their accurate, long range shots. They were ready for the deer monster.

When they arrived at the docks, the deer monster had made a mess of everything. Windows were broken, cars were upside down, people were running and screaming. The Superfriends got out of their limo, and Shotgun/Muzzleloader got close to the deer monster. He was ideally suited for fast, close-range action. Deltapoint Reflex stood beside him, his motion sensor activated.

The deer monster screamed out a challenge, and smashed a bus. People ran in fear as steam billowed out of the deer monster’s nostrils.

The Superfriends used their wide range of reticles and high performance optics to take out that deer. Handgun was fast and accurate, taking quick shots from around the corner of the smashed bus, while European-30 make quick metric shots, deadly into the deer’s heart. Competition took up his post on the thirtieth floor and with his extreme magnification, made incredibly precise shots into the center of the deer monster’s eye.

The deer monster was looking weakened. It screamed out a challenge that made the Superfriends cover their ears, and then it attacked them with its sharp hooves. It did a lot of damage. As they were about to fall back, Mark 4 showed up. His strengths of a red dot sight and flexibility of variable power made him good for everything from 50 to 700 meters to giant deer monsters. Tactical, dependable, with the reach and power and high performance of the Leupold Superfriends, the deer monster fell.

Once more, Leupold’s Superfriends had saved the city.
