The firearm companies owned by Beretta Holding in Maryland-Beretta U.S.A. Corp., Benelli U.S.A. Corporation and Stoeger Industries, Inc.-have all been deeply concerned about Governor Martin O’Malley’s effort this year to impose broad new restrictions on the rights of Maryland citizens to buy firearms, as well as on the types of firearms and firearm magazines they can acquire. The Companies have submitted comments before the Maryland legislature and to the press condemning these efforts and stating that the Governor’s anti-gun activity is causing them to evaluate whether they want to remain in this State.
Notwithstanding some media reports to the contrary, those efforts have had some beneficial effects.
Through the Companies’ legislative efforts and with assistance led by Delegate Joe Vallario and others provisions were stripped out of the final Bill that would have immediately required an immediate move of certain operations out of Maryland. The parts of the legislation that remained, though–and that were not deleted notwithstanding the Beretta Holding companies efforts to do so–remain offensive not only to our companies as firearm manufacturers, importers and distributors and as investors in jobs, taxes and income within the State of Maryland, but also to those of us who, as Maryland citizens, will now be encumbered with obstacles to our exercise of our Constitutional rights–such as a requirement we now be fingerprinted like a criminal before we can buy a handgun-without providing a commensurate benefit in reducing crime.
The resulting law that passed is not acceptable, even with the improvements we were able to obtain. In short, the law that finally passed went from being atrocious to simply being bad.
The question now facing the Beretta Holding companies in Maryland is this: What effect will the passage of this law–and the efforts of Maryland government officials to support its passage–have on our willingness to remain in this State?
In that respect we are mindful of two objectives: We will not let passage of this legislation prevent us from providing on-time delivery of our products to our U.S. Armed Forces and other important customers. We also will not go forward in a way that compounds the insult made to our Maryland employees by their Governor and by the legislators who supported his efforts.
Prior to introduction of this legislation the three Beretta Holding companies located in Maryland were experiencing growth in revenues and jobs and had begun expansion plans in factory and other operations. The idea now of investing additional funds in Maryland and thus rewarding a Government that has insulted our customers and our products is offensive to us so we will take steps to evaluate such investments in other States. At the same time, we will continue our current necessary operations within Maryland and we are thankful for and welcome the continued support of our employees as we do so.
EAGLEVILLE, PA, May 15, 2013 – Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, has significantly upgraded the lumen light output of four lights from its popular ProTac® tactical series: the ProTac® 1L, ProTac ® 2L, ProTac® 1AA, and ProTac® 2AA. Combining compact size and C4® LED technology, the upgraded lights are among the most versatile personal carry lights available for users, ranging from law enforcement personnel to industrial technicians.
All four upgraded lights now feature Streamlight’s new TEN-TAP™ programming, which enables users to select among three programs: high/strobe/low (the factory default setting); high only; or low/high.
“Streamlight has increased the lumen output, run times, candela and beam distances on the high setting for these ProTac lights without compromising their compact size,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “We also have added flexibility with the TEN-TAP programming switch to suit their preference or operating needs.”
On high, the upgraded lights now feature a range of 70 to 260 lumens and run times of up to three hours; on low, run times range from 24 to 50 hours. On the strobe setting, the ProTac 2L runs for six hours, while the other three lights run for four hours.
The ProTac 1L and ProTac 2L use one or two 3 Volt CR123A lithium batteries, respectively, which have a shelf life of 10 years. The ProTac 1AA and the ProTac 2AA are powered by one and two AA alkaline batteries, respectively; the use of a lithium battery will extend the run time of the ProTac 1AA.
Each light features a C4 LED for extreme brightness. A multi-function, push-button tactical tail switch allows for one-handed operation of the lights’ momentary, variable intensity, and strobe modes.
Similar to other models in the ProTac series, these lights are thin and easy to carry, weighing between 2 and 3.4 ounces with batteries, and measuring between 3.43 and 6.14 inches.
With bodies fabricated from machined aircraft aluminum with an anodized finish, the lights also feature an anti-roll face cap and a glass lens that is O-ring sealed. All four lights are IPX7 rated for waterproof operation to one meter for 30 minutes, and are two-meter impact resistance tested. Each includes a removable pocket clip and holster.
The ProTac 1AA, ProTac 2AA, ProTac 1L, and ProTac 2L have MSRPs of $68.00, $70.00, $72.00 and $80.00, respectively, and include Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

ACCOKEEK, MD – Beretta USA was honored during the recent 142nd Annual NRA Meetings and Exhibits in Houston, TX when presented with the “Editor’s Choice Award” by Outdoor Life for the new A400 Action 20ga. Outdoor Life editors summed up the features of the A400 Action 20 ga. best when citing their reasons behind the award, “this 20-gauge from Beretta, the first sub-gauge in the A400 series, is brimming with amenities and useful features. The kick-off system is one of the better recoil-reducing designs on the market, and by adding it to this shotgun Beretta has made an outstanding semi-auto for high-volume bird shooting. ….We liked the looks of the gun too. The finish on the receiver is distinctive without being tacky, and the grain-enhancing finish on the wood gives it a classy look. It also shouldered, swung, and shot like a dream. For all these reasons, the A400 XPLOR Action is our Editor’s Choice shotgun for 2013.”
“This recognition, especially considering the quality and depth of the competition, is very gratifying,” says Ryan Muety, Vice President of Brand and Channel Marketing. “Beretta continues to invest significant time and resources to ensure that our shotguns meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. It was only natural that we chose to expand the exceptionally popular A400 Xplor line to include a sub-gauge appropriate to the upland market where the A400 Action excels. Muety went on to add that, “as a 500-year-old company, our history, heritage and lifestyle are sacred to the Beretta brand and to be recognized for it by one’s peers makes it resonate all the more.”
Outdoor Life honors the industry’s best with their yearly “Gun Test” which are determined through a rigorous three-step process that includes inspection of the internal components and machining, range performance, and overall design and feature set.
Beretta, established in 1526, is the oldest industrial dynasty in the world tracing its roots through 16 generations of continuous family ownership. ONTARIO, California – Safariland® announced today that it has released the all-new 7TS™ Holster Series. This next generation injection-molded holster design is constructed of SafariSeven™ material, a proprietary nylon blend from DuPont™ that is completely non-abrasive to the weapon’s finish. Virtually impervious to weather extremes, the 7TS holsters are operationally and structurally cold tolerant to at least -50 degrees Fahrenheit and heat tolerant to at least 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
“Safariland has always been the leader in innovation,” said James Dawson, Category Director Safariland Duty Gear. “And this new series continues to push the boundaries of holster design and function. After numerous extreme condition tests and intense impact testing, the Safariland Research and Development team was able to draw from the holster smoothly and easily as if it had just been removed from its packaging.”
Adding to its numerous features and functionality, the 7TS line was engineered to ensure strength and rigidity by incorporating certain “corrugated” patterns into the holster’s interior. This design also features built-in “risers” inside the holster specifically to ensure minimal contact of the weapon while in the holster, creating air space around it, allowing dirt and moisture to quickly clear any contact with the firearm. Since the SafariSeven material is nylon only, and does not contain any other filler material, the holster actually becomes stronger in water, and can be submerged in water indefinitely and still maintain shape and function. And finally, the matte finish decreases reflection and can be cleared of scratches with a simple scouring pad.
Initial models offered consist of three concealment holsters and two tactical thigh rigs. These 7TS holsters incorporate the proven ALS® internal retention system, which provides excellent weapon retention and offers an ergonomic, simple straight up draw once the release is deactivated. These models are compatible with all Safariland holster mounting options.
All models are available in the SafariSeven Plain Black finish and are currently offered in two fits for the Beretta 92 and Glock 17/22. Additional fits and models that include ALS uniformed duty holsters, SLS duty & tactical holsters and ALS/SLS duty & tactical holsters will be available in the near future.
